EPCM is a project delivery method which involves the coordinated management of project design, procurement, construction and administration. It is best suited for projects which involve complexity, lack a degree of definition at commencement and are to be concluded within a short space of time. EPCM involves a parallel approach to design and construction to condense project periods and minimize construction costs.
It demands a high degree of planning and co-ordination throughout the project, but provides the Client with the opportunity to retain flexibility throughout the procurement of a project.
The EPCM approach provides Clients the opportunity to begin construction shortly after the commencement of the design, allowing the tendering and award elements of the work to commence before design of later works is complete.
